Kura Botanica Curaçao | Boutique Hotel in Otrobanda

In the cobblestone streets of Otrobanda, the historic UNESCO-listed district of Willemstad, the Kura Botanica Hotel occupies 18th-century houses gathered around botanical gardens. This adults-only boutique hotel, fully renovated and reopened in 2022, offers 42 rooms and suites, from 25 to 80 m², spread across the Kurá Hulanda Village. Its pool with jacuzzi and bar serves as the quiet heart of the property, just steps from downtown Willemstad, which can be explored entirely on foot from the doorstep.

Walking into the Kura Botanica Hotel means stepping through an unassuming door in a Kurá Hulanda Village lane and finding yourself in another era. The hotel occupies 18th-century houses at the heart of Otrobanda, Willemstad's historic district and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The 42 rooms and suites, 33 King rooms, 5 junior suites, 3 themed suites and an 80 m² Royal Desire Suite, are spread around botanical gardens, so you move from one cobbled lane to another rather than down a standard hotel corridor.

The property reopened in 2022 after a complete renovation, and the adults-only concept sets the tone: this is a place for quiet. The 35 m² pool with jacuzzi and bar remains the gathering point of the day, shaded by the garden's palm trees.

What truly sets this Otrobanda boutique hotel apart is its position at the center of everything without ever bearing the noise of it. Queen Emma Bridge, the Handelskade, and the lively lanes of Punda are all a few minutes' walk away, and yet, once the Kura Botanica's door closes behind you, the city seems to stay outside. In the evening, when the village comes alive with music and lights, the rooms keep the quiet of an old house.

The detail that surprises regulars: the hotel's gardens are maintained in partnership with local residents, and part of the fruits and vegetables grown there go directly to the local community. A quiet reminder that this refuge of stone and greenery belongs as much to Otrobanda as it does to its visitors.
