Curaçao Escape respects your privacy. This document explains what data we collect, why, and how we use it. It complies with the European GDPR.

Who we are

Curaçao Escape is an independent travel guide dedicated to the island of Curaçao. For any question regarding your personal data, write to hello@curacaoescape.com.

Data we collect

We collect only what is strictly necessary for the site to work properly:

• Anonymous audience analytics via Umami Analytics. No cookie is set, no IP address is stored, no personally identifiable data is collected. Only aggregated statistics (page views, country of origin, device type) are kept.
• Newsletter subscription (optional). If you sign up for our newsletter, we keep your email address and your first name via Mailchimp. You can unsubscribe at any time from any email.
• Contact forms. Messages sent through our forms are kept for as long as it takes to reply to you, then deleted within 12 months.

We collect no banking data: bookings always go through our partners (Booking, Viator, GetYourGuide, etc.), who handle their own payments.

Cookies

The site uses only:

• Strictly necessary technical cookies (language preference, currency).

Our audience measurement tool, Umami, sets no cookie at all. For this reason, it does not require your consent and does not depend on the banner. The banner concerns the widgets of our affiliate partners, which set third-party cookies when they are displayed.

You can change your choice at any time by clearing the site's local storage.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links (Booking, Viator, Discover Cars, GetYourGuide, SafetyWing) are affiliate links. When you book through these links, we receive a small commission, at no additional cost to you. A link on its own sets no cookie as long as you do not click on it. Some partners (GetYourGuide, Discover Cars), on the other hand, appear as interactive widgets, which set third-party cookies as soon as they are displayed: they load only with your consent. If you decline, plain links replace them.

Your GDPR rights

You have a right of access, rectification, erasure, portability and objection concerning all the data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, write to hello@curacaoescape.com. We reply within 30 days.

International transfers

The servers hosting the site and the tools we use (Supabase, Umami, Mailchimp) may be located outside the European Union. All our providers comply with the standard contractual clauses of the European Commission.

Retention periods

• Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
• Contact messages: 12 months maximum.
