Almost every guide copies the same mistakes
An invented income threshold, a criminal record that is not required, family fees that do not exist: online information about this visa gets copied from site to site, mistakes included. Some firms charge thousands of dollars to accompany a process designed to be self-service.
This guide is written for someone who has already read three generic guides and wants the operational detail: concrete, verifiable, dated. The program is simple, but it has precise traps, and those traps are exactly what this page is about.

The criminal record
No certificate of good conduct is required: the form uses sworn yes/no declarations plus an authorization letting the office verify directly. The record requirement belongs to Curaçao's regular residence permit, a separate procedure often confused with this one.
The family rate
There is no family rate: every family member files their own application and pays the full amount, including young children.
The basics
What the @HOME program is
The official name is @HOME in Curaçao, administered by the Curaçao Admissions Organization under the Department of Justice. Three categories share one procedure, the same fees and the same duration: remote worker (digital nomad), hibernator and wealthy investor.
It is a six-month temporary stay permit, not resident status. The announced processing time is about two weeks.

The form recognizes two profiles, backed by contracts and status.
Your own company abroad
Conducting business for a company registered abroad in which you are a partner or shareholder.
Clients abroad
Providing consultancy services to clients whose permanent establishments are outside Curaçao, contracts in hand.
Fees
What it costs, and how to pay
The fee is 535 XCG per application, roughly 294 USD, paid by bank wire to the Ministry of Finance account. Every applicant pays the full amount: there is no family discount.
The exact banking details are in the payment order of the official file (annex D of the form): take them there, never from a third-party site, ours included. The wire reference must carry your name exactly as it appears in your passport.
The file
The documents actually required
The form's mandatory fields for a remote worker, nothing more, nothing less.
For each adult
- Proof of payment of the fee.
- A copy of the passport, valid at least six months at the time of filing.
- An assignment statement (own company abroad), or an employer's statement, or a recent certified copy of the employment contract.
- A copy of the ID of the employer or signing director.
- A motivation letter: the text field is mandatory, the file attachment is optional.
For each child under 18
Two fields are added: proof of the parental link, and written proof that the legal representative consents to the stay. If a proxy files on your behalf: a signed authorization letter dated within six months, plus the proxy's ID.
What the form does not ask for
There is no upload field for insurance, lease, return ticket or bank statements. Counter-intuitive: valid medical insurance (COVID coverage included) is nonetheless an approval prerequisite. That is simply how the form is built.
The details
What nobody mentions
Real requirements of the form, invisible in generic guides.
- If your signature sits on a different passport page than the biographical page, that page must be attached too. The requirement only appears in a Dutch-language tooltip of the form.
- The Purpose of stay menu at the top drives the conditional display of the rest: until it is selected, sections stay empty and the form looks incomplete.
- The residential address in Curaçao field is mandatory: housing must be confirmed before filing.
- The Completeness declaration offers two boxes, one of which declares the file incomplete and announces consequences for the evaluation. Tick with full knowledge.
- The signature is drawn directly on screen; a tablet or stylus makes it far easier. A Filing date field and a Place field close the form.
Our reading
What we chose to do
Assumed interpretations on our part, not official requirements.
- The Yes/No trap: the Antecedents declaration statements are phrased against instinct. "I declare that I have never been sentenced" is answered Yes when your record is clean; answering No declares you a criminal. That is our reading of the form.
- With no dedicated insurance field, we mention the coverage in the mandatory motivation letter. A pragmatic move, not a procedure.
- From our reading, an assignment statement benefits from stating: shareholder or director status, the company's registration abroad, work performed via telecommunications, clients outside Curaçao, the intended period, and no local-source income.
- We are aiming to file about two months before departure: the margin needed to absorb a request for additional documents without touching the plane tickets.
Grey zones
The questions still open
Unresolved points in the official documents. Questions, not answers: when in doubt, write to the office.
- Minors' signatures: the FAQ says family members 12 and older sign their own application, the form says a minor's application is signed by the legal representatives. The two sources contradict each other.
- When the six-month clock starts: nothing says whether validity runs from approval or from entry. The distinction matters if you file long in advance.
- Documents in languages other than Dutch, English or Spanish: no official text requires certified translation, none forbids it. French appears nowhere in the program.
- The dependent minor's form shows an Assignment statement field marked mandatory even for a child. Clarify with the office before paying multiple applications.
On the island
During the stay and on arrival
During the six months
Working for a client or employer established in Curaçao is prohibited, in all three categories. No local income tax is due. Entries and exits are free during the approved period; car rental, housing and local services are unrestricted.
At the border
A return ticket matching the approved stay is required: a one-way ticket gets admission refused. The digital immigration card (DI Card) is a separate step from the permit, to fill in before the flight.
The one source that counts
The official form and its FAQ are the reference. Everything this page states can be checked there, and that is where fees and procedures should be confirmed before every filing.
