At Bapor Kibra, right next to the Curaçao Sea Aquarium, Mambo Beach Curaçao is the island's liveliest beach. The Mambo Beach Boulevard that overlooks it brings together shops, bars and restaurants spread across two levels, with a direct view of the sand and sea. It's a largely man-made beach, but the result works well: a breakwater protects the bay and turns the water into a kind of calm lagoon, perfect for kids to play in without having to worry about waves.
During the day, the vibe stays family-friendly: rent a lounge chair, order a cocktail from the nearest bar to the sand, and alternate between swimming and napping in the shade of the coconut palms. Some sections of the beach and the loungers come at a cost, a modest entry fee that gives access to amenities (showers, lockers). The boulevard itself remains free and open to everyone, whether you're there for the beach or just to stroll past the shops.
As dusk falls, especially on weekends, the atmosphere changes gear: the beach clubs turn on their lights, music takes over from the sound of the waves, and Mambo becomes one of Curaçao's most popular nightlife spots. In the morning, though, before the cruise ship crowds arrive, you can still take your pick of spots to lay your towel under a coconut palm, facing water that's surprisingly calm for such a busy beach.

Most of the best beaches are at least 45 minutes from Willemstad. Renting a car is not optional.
