To reach Kokomo Beach, you head west out of Willemstad toward Westpunt, then turn onto the Bullenbaai road until you reach this sheltered bay known as Vaersenbaai. The place works like a beach club and restaurant set right on the sand, with loungers, a beach bar, and a menu designed to keep the day going until sunset, a moment that's especially popular here since the beach faces the perfect direction to enjoy the evening light on the water.
What really sets Kokomo apart is its swing set installed in the shallow water, which over the years has become one of Curaçao's most sought-after photo spots. You'll see just as many local families as visitors lining up to pose in front of the Kokomo Beach sign, which gets its fair share of photos too. Beach access remains free, only the lounger rental costs money, which explains why the place stays just as popular with locals as with tourists.
Below the surface, the snorkeling is decent just offshore, with coral patches and enough marine life to make it worth packing a mask and snorkel. On Sundays, the mood shifts with live music and a late-afternoon happy hour, an event many Curaçaoans consider a weekend tradition.
You'll need a car
Most of the best beaches are at least 45 minutes from Willemstad. Renting a car is not optional.
